If you have never been to UNLVino in Las Vegas, Nevada. UNLVino has now celebrated their 45th Annual event! It is Las Vegas’ premiere longest running wine and food festival. while being the largest fundraiser for scholarships for the students of Hospitality schools at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I was pleased to be in attendance at yet another one of their events. This time the event took place inside the stunning Mirage Events Center.
I have nothing but positive reviews for the entire experience. There was an amazing flow to the event the entire evening. With 80+ pours being featured and 23 restaurants preparing signature small plates, There was such a wide variety of options to choose from. There were so many different cuisines and a spectrum of drink options I felt as if I would not have the opportunity to taste everything – and I was right about that! While I may not have had the opportunity to try everything, I was sure able to pinpoint a few flavorful highlights that truly made my evening.
Among the various cuisine options present, the dish that stood out the most was none other than the fish prepared by Milos. This Greek restaurant prides itself on offering the freshest fish from the Mediterranean. At first glance, the presentation of the dishes were already next level and definitely reflected the standard of an upscale restaurant on the las vegas strip. Their selection for the evening offered a light and healthy choice to pair perfectly with your drink of choice. The simple preparation of their seafood dishes allowed the natural flavors and freshness of the fish to really come through. There was no taste diluted with unnecessary flavors or spices. You really can’t beat the quality of having fresh fish!
Of course, the drinks selection was unmatched. I tried a few drinks here and there, but mainly dabbled in my realm of gin, whiskey, and other liquors. The drink that stole the night for my liking was Empress 1908. I enjoyed a beautifully mixed gin and tonic with a slice of grapefruit. If the taste itself was not enough of a spectacle, the drink changes from indigo blue to a vibrant pink-violet hue upon mixing with the tonic. I will definitely be ordering Empress 1908 in the future – so smooth!
This is not the first time I went to this event, and surely will not be my last. UNLVino never disappoints! The event always offers something different! This is one of my favorite events I go to every year. I had such a good time this year. Not only did I explore new flavors and pours, I Ran into friends that I have not seen in years. the event was truly a tasteful experience.
UNLVino has turned into a cultural icon of the city, not only does the event support UNLV Hospitality colleges but it has also featured a wide variety of new beverages, wines, and champagnes which is in itself is an experience as well as an educational feast for the palates.
